On 25 October, the ALDE Party Congress meeting voted to adopt a total of 7 urgency resolutions and a further 11 resolutions.

The seven urgency resolutions passed were as follows:
On the Postponement of the 14 October Vote on the EU Chat Control Proposal:
Reaffirming the commitment to protecting privacy and digital rights in the face of the EU’s proposed Chat Control regulation which infringes upon citizens’ privacy.
Situation in Gaza - the Israel / Palestine conflict and the need for a durable peace in the Middle East:
Condemning the loss of civilian life and urging renewed international efforts toward a lasting peace and two-state solution. Calling for a full ceasefire compliance, humanitarian access, and a credible plan for political reconciliation.
On the European Citizens’ Initiative “My Voice, My Choice”- for Safe and Accessible Abortion in Europe:
Reaffirming that access to safe and legal abortion is a fundamental right, the resolution supports the My Voice, My Choice initiative and calls on the European Commission to ensure equitable access to abortion care across the EU.
Protect Democracy: Political Violence Has No Place in Europe:
Condemning all forms of political violence, intimidation, and hate speech, urging European leaders to defend democratic institutions and fundamental rights. It calls for stronger action against extremism, greater investment in education, and digital resilience.
On the Slovak Constitution Amendment against the EU Law:
Condemning the recent constitutional amendment undermining the primacy of EU law and restricting LGBTIQ+ rights. It urges compliance with EU and human rights obligations in order to defend the rule of law and equality across Europe.
Sustainable Military Support Ahead of Winter and Just Peace for Ukraine:
Calling for sustained military, financial, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine ahead of winter, alongside stronger EU coordination. Urging for continued sanctions on Russia, the use of frozen assets for Ukraine’s recovery, and unity in pursuing a just and lasting peace.
Denouncing the October 2025 sham elections and Georgian Dream’s authoritarian consolidation:
Condemning Georgia’s fraudulent elections and the imprisonment of opposition leaders, calling for their immediate release and new free and fair elections. It urges the EU to impose targeted sanctions on Georgian Dream officials and to defend democracy.
Alongside other resolutions passed:
Unlocking EU accession and strengthening long lasting support for Ukraine:
Calling for reform of EU procedures to prevent single-member-state vetoes blocking Ukraine’s accession progress. It calls for sustained political, military, and humanitarian support to Ukraine, stronger sanctions on Russia, and renewed commitment to EU enlargement as a pillar of peace.
Strengthening the EU’s democratic resilience to combat foreign interference:
Highlighting growing threats from authoritarian regimes, disinformation, and foreign interference eroding trust in Europe’s democratic institutions. It calls on the EU to fully implement digital and AI legislation and promote technological sovereignty to safeguard democracy.
Save the Hungarian elections in 2026 - stand for democracy!
Stressing the electoral manipulation under Hungary’s Fidesz government and Russian influence, urging close monitoring, international election observation, and EU readiness to respond to irregularities.
Resolution on the Forced Deportation and Illegal Adoption of Ukrainian Children by the Russian Federation:
Condemning Russia’s forced deportation, illegal adoption, and Russification of Ukrainian children, calling for their immediate return, full transparency on their whereabouts, EU coordination and accountability for perpetrators through international legal mechanisms.
On Political Arrests, Politically Motivated Persecutions and the Erosion of Rule of Law in Bulgaria:
Condemning politically motivated arrests and prosecutions in Bulgaria, highlighting the erosion of judicial independence and rule of law, calling for the release of opposition figures and adherence to EU legal standards.
Innovate, Integrate, Elevate: Unleashing Europe’s Tech Potential:
Calling for a unified European tech ecosystem that supports startups, scale-ups, and innovation through harmonised regulations, improved digital infrastructure, cross-border mobility and strengthened EU collaboration.
Fossil-free energy: the key to security and quality of life:
Emphasising the transition to fossil-free energy to strengthen Europe’s security, sovereignty and climate resilience through enhanced innovation and cross-border energy markets, as well as boosting domestic production of renewable technologies.
Ending the conflict and humanitarian crisis in Sudan:
Highlighting the urgent need to end the conflict and humanitarian crisis in Sudan through EU-led diplomacy, a ceasefire and strengthened international coordination. Urging for robust humanitarian aid, particularly for displaced and vulnerable populations.
Defending the role of citizens in the Union's Long-term Budget: a Liberal blueprint:
Emphasising the importance of local authority involvement in the EU’s long-term budget, defending multilevel governance and strategic funding to strengthen democratic legitimacy.
ALDE Party calls for the swift approval of the Mercosur and Mexico Agreements:
Supporting the rapid approval of the EU-Mercosur and EU-Mexico agreements, highlighting their potential trade opportunities and value chains, as well as the diversification of critical raw material sources and international partnerships.
A Stronger Internal Market for Europe's Defence Industry:
Emphasising the need for a fully integrated internal market for Europe’s defence industry, and harmonised standards for EU-level coordination and strategic autonomy. Allowing for interoperability, innovation, and resilience, while supporting NATO commitments.
Following voting on resolutions, the results of the ALDE Party Bureau elections were announced, with all candidates re-elected to their positions. The re-elected Bureau members are:

Vice-President, Eva Kjer Hansen (Venstre, Denmark)
Treasurer, David Burke (Fianna Fail, IE)
The Liberal Awards were co-hosted with European Liberal Forum and supported by Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and the European Liberal Youth. This year’s Rising Star Award went to Ines Holzegger; while the Liberal of the Year Award went to the Serbian Activists: Davor Stefanović, Srđan Đurić and Mladen Cvijetić.
As the winners were on house arrest until yesterday, the award was accepted on their behalf by PSG Youth president, Jelena Banjaac: “We will keep fighting for a liberal democratic Serbia."
ALDE President, Svenja Hahn delivered a final speech to close the Congress session:
“What shined through every debate and conversation was that Europe really does stand at a crossroads and Europe is ready to lead. Instead of fear, we choose courage. We know what Europe can be, a superpower for freedom, for democracy and for opportunity and hope.”
Hahn announced the ALDE Party Congress 12-13 June 2026 in Vienna, Austria.
