Renew Europe has presented an ambitious plan to impact European citizens’ lives positively. The proposal is called “Simplifying citizens’ lives” and aims to provide real, lasting measures to meet citizens’ needs.
Simplifying European initiatives means making them work for everyone, every day. This action plan focuses on bolstering European mobility, opportunity, security and fairness.
Valérie Hayer MEP, President of Renew Europe said:
“Europe is not a burden, it is a promise of freedom and opportunity. Our task is to make this promise tangible – by removing the barriers that frustrate citizens in their daily lives. Every form simplified, every rule clarified, every procedure digitalised brings Europe closer to its people. This counts for us."
Renew Europe stands for a positive, forward-looking agenda, and this proposal covers the areas where citizens feel the EU most directly.
The plan ranges from rom a standardised EU-wide registration system for mobility and residence; a pan-European system for cross-border healthcare and education; the freedom to work and bank anywhere in Europe with an EU Digital Identity Wallet; a more user-friendly online privacy setting with cookies; an EU platform for transport tickets and connectivity; to less bureaucracy including an EU portal explaining citizens’ rights.
Morten Løkkegard MEP (Venstre, DK), Chair of the Renew Europe task force for simplification added:
"Making life simpler for European citizens is not just a nice-to-have – it’s a necessity if we want people to feel that the EU works for them. Cutting unnecessary bureaucracy and creating smarter, digital solutions. It is about rebuilding trust and showing that Europe can deliver concrete results in people’s everyday lives."
Renew Europe’s initiative pushes for seamless EU-wide processes that enable efficiency and interoperability for all Europeans.
