On 27-28 June, the European liberal family will be reuniting in Helsinki for the 2025 ALDE Party Council meeting to tackle the defining challenges in European security and defence.
The two-day event centred around the theme “Securing Tomorrow” will be inaugurated by ALDE Party President Svenja Hahn and the leaders of our hosting Finnish member parties SFP and Keskusta, Anders Adlercreutz and Antti Kaikkonen.
Leading liberal voices in security and defence will then take part in a high-level debate entitled “European Security: Player or Pawn of the New Global Order?”, analysing Europe's current defence policies and future strategic direction.
Speakers include:
- Troels Lund Poulsen, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence (Venstre, DK)
- Hanno Pevkur, Minister of Defence (Reformierakond, EE)
- Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann MEP, Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Security and Defence (FDP, DE)
- Olga Stefanishya, Deputy Prime Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice (Sluga Narodu, UA) - Invited
- Moderating: Teresa Reiter, journalist and foreign and security policy expert
