ALDE Party Vice-President Dan Barna MEP (USR, RO) joined Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement, in her three-day visit to Moldova.

In the capital of Chișinău, Commissioner Kos officially signed the European Union’s Reform and Growth Facility for Moldova, with the ceremony symbolically taking place on Europe Day.

The Growth Facility is a financial support program for the Republic of Moldova worth almost €2 billion, aimed at boosting the country’s economy, providing significant financial assistance and bringing the country closer to EU membership by accelerating reforms.

Vice-President Barna brought forward the work for the Facility in the European Parliament until it was approved by the Plenary session on 11 March.

“I am proud and honored to be in Chișinău on Europe Day. Unity, and solidarity are core values of the EU. We are showing support for Moldova and its European future in these troubled geopolitical times,” said Vice-President Barna.

Over the course of the visit, the delegation met with citizens, entrepreneurs, and political leaders such as Moldovan President Maia Sandu to discuss the benefits of EU membership and the impact of the Reform and Growth Plan on the country's future.
