On 30 November, Ciudadanos held an extraordinary council to elect an interim leadership of the party following the resignation of Albert Rivera after the November general elections.
With the support of 91,4% of the delegates, the new management board is formed by 16 members that will assume the competences of the Executive Committee. Manuel García Bofill will chair the board with Secretary General Jose Manuel Villegas as number two. Other members of the board include ALDE Party Vice-President Luis Garicano as responsible for International affairs (see full list of board members here).
The new board will take the reins of the party in order to make a smooth transition from now until the next extraordinary congress on 15 March 2020. During the congress, Ciudadanos will elect the new party leader and new Executive Committee.
Following the election of the new management board, García Bofill stated: “Only Ciudadanos can bring to Spain centre and liberal policies that support families and freelancers and stand up to nationalism and move towards democratic regeneration.”
