On 21 January, chaired by ALDE Party Vice-President Luis Garicano, the ministers of our political family came together for the first time to discuss key issues related to Europe’s future, such as digital taxation, an investment plan for a European Green Deal, European Semester and the completion of the European Banking Union.
On digital taxation, the participants agreed that Europe needs to remain competitive and that there is a need for a digital tax. Yet, the interests of small companies should not be forgotten.
The need for an investment plan on the European Green Deal was also discussed. The group of ministers agreed that the private sector will play a key role in such a plan, and that European employees need relevant trainings to adapt to the transition.
“We have to make sure that workers remain at the centre of the Just Transition Mechanism,” meeting chair Luis Garicano concluded.
