On Thursday 10 December, following Lithuania’s parliamentary elections in October, the new cabinet of Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė was sworn in. ALDE Party members Liberalų sąjūdis and Laisvės partija will hold a total of five ministerial positions in this new cabinet. Moreover, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, alumna of the European Women’s Academy, holds the position of the Speaker of the House.
Leader of Laisvės partija, Aušrinė Armonaitė, takes office as Minister of Economy and Innovation, working on key issues for her party, such as economic freedom and human rights. Evelina Dobrovolska is Lithuania’s new Minister of Justice and Marius Skuodis, an independent candidate put forward by Armonaitė, takes office as Minister of Transport.
Liberalų sąjūdis holds two ministerial positions in the new cabinet: Simonas Gentvilas as Minister of Environment and Simons Kairys as Minister of Culture.
