On 12 February, the Liberals, one of ALDE Party’s members in Andorra, held an Extraordinary Congress with more than 200 attendees to vote on the lists for the upcoming general election taking place on 2 April.
Members ratified candidacies for the national list headed by Josep Maria Cabanes and the regional lists, in which Liberals will run together with Democrats. On the regional lists candidates from the Liberals will hold the following posts: number two and number four on the list in Sant Julià de Lòria, number three and five in Andorra la Vella and number three in Ordino.
Commenting on the lists, Cabanes said that the fact that an agreement with Democrats was reached in some parishes responds "to the maturity that a party with state responsibilities such as ours must demonstrate and practice". Cabanes also stressed that Liberals guarantee prudence and moderation, stating that "if we come to government, we will cease legislative excesses and improper and inappropriate policies in a country like ours". In this sense, he added that "we want to be the guarantee of stability and stop any turn towards populist policies".
During the Congress, a new brand for the 'Cabanes 2023' candidacy and its respective website were also presented, as well as a video presentation of the candidacy and the candidate.
