On Sunday 24 January, Portugal goes to the polls, as the country’s presidential elections take place. ALDE Party member Iniciativa Liberal will be represented by lead candidate Tiago Mayan Gonçalves.

Mayan Gonçalves, one of the founding members of his party, wants to bring people from all different political backgrounds together and urges for a new style of politics without clientelism and with less dependency on the state. ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen has also expressed his support for Mayan Gonçalves, wishing him good luck.
