ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen spoke during the weekend with Liberal International President Hakima El Haite, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Democratic Alliance of South Africa leader Helen Zille.

Van Baalen stressed that ALDE supports the initiatives for global solidarity and actions of these international leaders. He also called on the EU and its Member States to participate in worldwide responses to fight the Covid-19 pandemic since Europe, Africa, Asia, the Americas and Australia are all-in this together.

He added that the strong and special EU – Africa relationship should endure, and that the European Union should not leave Africa to face these challenges alone.
