Radikale Venstre hosts party congress

On 14-15 September, Radikale Venstre – one of ALDE Party’s Danish member parties – hosted a party congress in Nyborg, Denmark.

We are not here to put a spoke in your wheel,” party leader Morten Østergaard said in his speech. “Our only goal is to drive Denmark forward.”

“There is only one thing to do if we are to win back our trust in each other and our belief in future. And that is what we are setting out to do today – to transform hope into action.”

Also speaking at the event was Margrethe Vestager, one of the Executive Vice-Presidents of the new European Commission that comes into effect on 1 November.

Talking about community, values and equality, she said: “We were Europeans in 1905, and we are Europeans today,” and highlighted the importance of cooperation in achieving goals on climate, migration and more.
