Renew Europe and ALDE Party Leaders show unity for a stronger Europe

On 23 June, ahead of the European Council, Heads of State and government, European Commissioners and liberal and democrats party leaders met in Brussels to discuss the geopolitical, economic and environmental future of Europe in the first-ever Renew Europe Leaders Meeting.

The meeting was attended by ALDE Party co-Presidents Senator Timmy Dooley and Ilhan Kyuchyuk MEP, and Vice-Presidents Dita Charanzová MEP, Luis Garicano MEP and recently elected Ukrainian leader Kira Rudik MP.

Among high-profile liberals Prime Ministers Alexander De Croo (Belgium), Emmanuel Macron (France), Michéal Martin (Ireland) and Mark Rutte (The Netherlands), European Commissioners Thierry Breton and Janez Lenarčič attended the event hosted by Renew Europe Group President Stéphane Séjourné MEP and more than 20 party leaders.

After a meeting and a working lunch, leaders adopted a declaration pledging to bring change to European politics. Outlining their offer to European voters of an alternative to the status quo and the dangerous proposals of the populists and extremists, from both right and left, the leaders adopted a vision of reform and delivery for EU citizens. In the declaration leaders agree to work on: forging Europe as a geopolitical power, accelerate the European Green agenda, trace a complete roadmap to European sovereignty, complete our single market and regenerate our democratic system, among other things.
