Last weekend, on 11-13 January, the ALDE Member Party Swedish People’s Party of Finland kicked off their campaign for the upcoming national and European elections. The event was held on a ferry between Helsinki and Stockholm, and it gathered around 500 party activists, including many of the candidates on the party’s list.
SFP has maintained stable support and fared well in the three previous elections and enters the campaign in a positive spirit – a message that was clear in party leader Anna-Maja Henriksson’s opening ceremony speech. In Finland, the key dates this spring are national elections on 14 April and European elections on 26 May.
The weekend included political debates on several topics, important and relevant also at European level, including European security, populism, climate action and priorities for the next EU legislature.
