On 6 March, Progresívne Slovensko (PS) published the party’s full list of candidates for the European elections in June.
As announced in February, former Slovak Prime Minister Ľudovít Ódor will be the lead candidate as the party once again committed to presenting a gender-balanced list with eight men and seven women.
Ódor is followed by Ľubica Karvašová, a diplomat who worked as an adviser to the Slovak Prime Minister for EU affairs between 2020-23, and current PS and European Parliament Vice-President Martin Hojsík MEP.
Just officially joined @progresivne_sk & alongside w/@LudoOdor decided to run in @EPElections2024. From #values perspective, #Slovakia has been moving away from the 🇪🇺. I feel a great sense of responsibility to change that! Only pro-European 🇸🇰 can be prosperous & lead in the EU. pic.twitter.com/1yMfhDkKZh

The top five is completed by moderator and former journalist Veronika Cifrová Ostrihoňová and Michal Wiezik MEP, the Slovak liberals’ other current representative in the European Parliament.
"We have a clear ambition - to win these elections. We are bringing new personalities to the European Parliament who will strengthen the PS and help bring a better future to Slovakia,” said party leader Michal Šimečka.
"These are active professionals, people with a reputation who want to further develop their skills. And we can guarantee that they will take up their mandate once elected.”
Ódor stressed that the EU must see Slovakia as a country with forces that disagree with the current direction of the country.
"It will be an honour to lead a candidate list full of experts and talented people. We are working on our programme, the main priorities of which are the next generation, the European anchoring of Slovakia and the competitiveness of our country in the EU," he said.

Hojsík added: "We can fight effectively for our environment in the European Parliament. There is a unique opportunity to use the protection of nature and climate in Slovakia to improve people's lives. So that we breathe clean air, drink clean water and have healthy food.”
