It’s been one year since the fraudulent elections in Belarus.
Throughout this past year Liberals have:
- called for new and free elections based on credible reports pointing to a victory for Svetlana Tikhanovskaya;
- organised protests and solidarity rallies against the illegal arrests of journalists, to support the Belarusian protests, with our ALDE Party representatives participating all across the Baltic states on Belarus Freedom day protests;
- petitioned EU leaders for severe sanctions after the illegal hijacking of the Ryanair Athens-Vilnius flight to kidnap journalist Raman Protasevich and his girlfriend Sofia Sapega, which were quickly adopted by the European Council;
- adopted a resolution in response to the recent developments in Belarus, which includes the immediate release of all political prisoners, the non-recognition policy towards Lukashenko’s regime, and a series of measures to put economic pressure on the government while continuing providing solidarity and support to civil society.
But this is not enough especially as Lukashenko keeps threatening the EU and all that it stands for. At the ALDE Party we intend to keep supporting the Belarusian people who wish to have their rights and freedoms respected. Join us in our fight, with even just a small contribution you can help us bring a better future for the good people of Belarus! Support the cause today.
