On 26 April, Team Europe member and liberal EU Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc delivered a powerful speech at Neuropa, an EP2019 campaign kick-off organised by an Austrian ALDE member party NEOS, in Vienna.

Talking of the role the European Union plays, Bulc highlighted the importance of a united continent vis-à-vis global players, such as China and the United States: “There is neither one nation nor one country in the EU that can lead on a global scale. That’s why we need each other. And even though we are different [...] we have aspirations and the spirit of the European Union, of a European continent.”

“Go out and spread the spirit of liberty, the spirit of democracy, the spirit of human values,” Bulc urged the audience to counter the populist forces in Europe.

She also emphasised why women should be involved in policy and decision-making:

“Europe needs women. [...] We need to work together, we need to inspire each other, because the solutions that will emerge through our collaboration will serve the society.”
