Verhofstadt sends letter to Mark Zuckerberg

Guy Verhofstadt has written to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to complain about a manipulated video, published as a sponsored advertisement by the Hungarian government.

In the letter, Verhofstadt criticises the platform for not respecting the EU Code of Conduct on hate speech.

The ALDE Group leader says Facebook is making profit from advertising targeted propaganda against migrants further undermining our democracies and societies.

A false news video, sponsored by the Hungarian Government, is circulating online which manipulates a statement I gave on migration. I have written to #Zuckerberg asking him to address this urgently and take the necessary steps. Please #RT! pic.twitter.com/2vWacAo1RR
