Elections for a new Steering Committee are coming up

The mandate of the current ALDE Party individual members Steering Committee comes to an end at the upcoming ALDE Party Congress in Athens. Therefore, the ALDE Party secretariat has the pleasure to inform you that elections are coming up to elect a new Steering Committee. The nomination period is open from now. You can nominate until Monday 26 August.

The rules of ALDE Party's Individual Membership stipulate that elections must be announced at least three months before the ALDE Party Congress, this year from 24-26 October 2019, and that elections must be held at the latest two months ahead of the Congress.

Since 2014, a Steering Committee exists. The Steering Committee for the individual members in ALDE Party is the elected body, consisting of five members, representing the individual members and steering their work across Europe. It supports all individual members in organising themselves at local, regional and national level in order to become more active in favour of liberal principles. Every two years, online elections for a new Steering Committee are held, ahead of the ALDE Party Congress.

All paid-up individual members can nominate themselves. For your nomination to be valid you must submit the following information to the ALDE Party secretariat by the deadline of Monday 26 August at 14h00 Central European Time:

Please send your nomination to [email protected]

In addition, nominees need three other individual members to endorse their nomination. The endorsers should also send a message of endorsement to [email protected] by 26 August.

Following the deadline of Monday 26 August, individual members will be informed at the latest on Wednesday 28 August about the official list of candidates. The vote will take place between Wednesday 4 September and Wednesday 11 September. On Wednesday afternoon 4 September, all paid-up members will receive in their inbox an e-mail ballot with which they can vote. As stipulated in article 5.3 of the individual members' rules, the elections are held according to a preferential ranking system. The vote will run on the online platform OpaVote. The voting system is "Meek STV" as defined and calculated by OpaVote.
