The Liberal Democratic Party was founded in 1997 when the Democratic Party and the Liberal Party united forces. Since then, the party has participated in all elections that have taken place in the Republic of North Macedonia and now forms part of the country’s government coalition with the Social Democratic Party.

Through its programme, the party promotes liberal and democratic values such as human rights, freedom of the press, protection of small and medium-sized enterprises, flat tax, legalisation of cannabis, justice, and more. The party’s goals include being the corrective of government policies, representing citizens’ interests in the country, spreading the liberal values and raising awareness of the importance of liberal democracy.
