On Monday 10 January, a new Dutch government, led by Prime Minister Mark Rutte, was sworn in. The coalition government includes ALDE Party members VVD and D66. With 20 Ministers and State secretaries out of 29, liberals make more than half of the new executive. It is the first gender-balanced cabinet of the Netherlands and the first time the country has a female Minister of Finance, D66 leader Sigrid Kaag.

ALDE Party welcomes the French Presidency of the EU

Last week, the members of the European Commission visited Paris to mark the start of the French Presidency of the EU Council. Liberal Commissioners took the opportunity to discuss their priorities for the next six months with President Emmanuel Macron and his cabinet. The focus of the Presidency will be on climate, social, and digital.

FDP hosts annual Three Kings Meeting with a clear message: Now the work really begins

Last week, ALDE Party member Free Democratic Party (FDP) from Germany held its annual Three Kings Meeting in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg. In his speech, party leader Christian Lindner focused on the challenges and goals for the so-called traffic light coalition in the German government.

Kazakhstan: Renew Europe calls for peaceful solution to crisis

Renew Europe is deeply concerned about the situation in Kazakhstan, following deadly clashes between protesters and security forces in the last week. The Group calls on all actors involved to refrain from actions that could lead to further escalation of violence and believes that dialogue is the only way to solve this crisis peacefully.
