ALDE Party Secretary General takes on a new professional challenge

The ALDE Party Bureau has taken note of the announcement by Secretary General Jacob Moroza-Rasmussen that he will step down from his current role within ALDE Party, as he has been offered and accepted a new professional challenge as of May 2023. During his time heading the ALDE Party secretariat since 2012, the Party has grown in both size and influence. The Bureau will launch an open call for a new Secretary General after discussing the matter.

Liberals remain a strong political force in Bulgaria

On 2 April, Bulgarians voted for their parliamentary representatives for the fifth time within two years in the hope of being able to finally form a stable government. The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), ALDE Party member in the country, managed to keep up their results, winning the overall overseas vote and 13.55% of the total vote, to remain among the leading parties.

Acció enters Andorra’s General Council

Last weekend, the citizens of Andorra came to the polls to vote for their representatives. With the final results in, ALDE Party member Acció, a newly founded party led by Judith Pallarés, entered the General Council after Marc Magallón Font secured a seat from the Escaldes-Engorday constituency.

Liberals elected to the Finnish Parliament

In last weekend’s parliamentary elections in Finland, Keskusta, one of ALDE Party’s members in the country, obtained 11.3% of the vote. This will translate into 23 seats in the new Finnish Parliament. The Swedish People’s Party of Finland (SFP), another ALDE Party member in the country, will maintain its previous nine seats, having received 4.3% of the vote.

Packaging measures could lead to more carbon emissions and water waste

On 28 March, ALDE Party hosted a Stakeholder Series event about waste packaging in collaboration with McDonalds. The panel of experts from the private and public sectors discussed the European Commission's newly proposed measures with an emphasis on re-use materials in dine-in restaurants, which could lead to greater carbon output alongside plastic and water waste.

This exciting contest, organised by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and the Hungarian Free Market Foundation, invites you to submit your best poems envisioning a positive and vibrant Europe in 2050. Submit your contributions before 16 April.

Are you a politician with a mandate at the local or regional level, born on or after 1 January 1983? If you are looking for opportunities to network, exchange best practices, gather information on EU legislation and EU funding, or want to be involved and debate with the European Committee of the Regions, then now is the last chance to apply to join the Young Elected Politicians programme. Applications can still be submitted until 10 April!

The European Year of Skills will raise awareness about the importance of re-skilling and upskilling to match people's aspirations with job opportunities. The Renew Europe Group stresses that the EU must invest in affordable, accessible and good quality programs to retain older workers, encourage women in STEM careers.

Renew Europe supports regulation on ozone depleting substances

Renew Europe Group supports updated regulations on ozone-depleting substances and fluorinated greenhouse gases to meet EU's climate goals of becoming climate neutral by 2050. The group emphasizes the need to step up actions to phase out ozone-depleting emissions and prevent the emission of substances still present in the atmosphere.
