She Will Be Heard: The Movie premieres in Brussels

Last week, ALDE Party and The Alliance Of Her hosted the world premiere of their first-ever documentary film, She Will Be Heard: The Movie. The special evening event brought together nearly 200 guests to view the film and discuss key issues related to women’s political leadership and representation, with welcome remarks from ALDE Party Vice-President Svenja Hahn MEP.

Liberals from around the world gather in Ottawa

Liberal International held their 206th Executive Committee meeting in Canada last week, bringing together liberals from across the globe. ALDE Party was active during the event and organised a panel discussion on overcoming political oppression featuring the participation of Belarusian activist Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and Evgenia Kara-Murza, wife of Russian political prisoner Vladimir Kara-Murza, among other distinguished panellists.

New members join ELF at General Assembly

On 4-5 May, the European Liberal Forum gathered a record number of representatives from their member organisations for a Spring General Assembly in Paris. ALDE Party Co-President Timmy Dooley shared remarks at the opening dinner, highlighting the longstanding cooperation between ALDE Party and ELF. Key discussion topics during the event included defence and security and the changing European geopolitical landscape.

LYMEC holds Congress in Budapest

This past weekend, young liberals from across Europe came together in Budapest for the Spring Congress of LYMEC – European Liberal Youth, ALDE Party’s youth wing. During the event, delegates were honoured to hear from inspiring guest speakers such as Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel, ALDE Party Co-President Ilhan Kyuchyuk MEP and ALDE Party Vice-Presidents Dániel Berg and Kira Rudik MP.

Renew Europe CoR: Gabrič reaffirms support for EU enlargement

Speaking on Enlargement Day, the European Committee of the Regions’ flagship event on EU enlargement policy dialogue and capacity-building, Renew Europe CoR member Jasna Gabrič reaffirmed her full support for North Macedonia to become EU Member State in the future. Despite enthusiasm from citizens, fatigue with the enlargement process is a real risk to the process, she highlighted in her intervention.

Europe of tomorrow will be built from the political centre

Yesterday on Europe Day, Stéphane Séjourné, President of Renew Europe, made a rallying call to build a Europe of tomorrow, ready to move beyond crisis management, built on green energy, harnessing technological change and with modernised institutions. This new Europe can only be built from a progressive, centrist alliance with reforms to put citizens at its heart, he said.

Renew Europe: EU rules needed to stop illegal surveillance

One year after the European Parliament Committee of Inquiry to investigate the use of Pegasus and equivalent surveillance spyware started its work, the Committee gave the green light to a report from Sophie in 't Veld MEP, which uncovers the extent of EU governments' illegal espionage on citizens. The report puts forward recommendations to regulate surveillance at the EU level and hold governments responsible.
