From 2-4 June, nearly a thousand liberals from across Europe, including Prime Ministers, European Commissioners and party leaders, will gather in Dublin to discuss and debate some of the defining challenges of our time. Liberals discuss sanctions against Russia at Renew Europe Pre-Summit

On 30 May, ALDE Party acting co-Presidents Ilhan Kyuchyuk MEP and Senator Timmy Dooley attended a meeting of our political family ahead of a decisive European Council Summit. The meeting was hosted by Renew Europe Group President Stéphane Séjourné and focused on Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine, the sixth package of sanctions against Russia and energy prices in Europe.

What’s next for the Conference on the Future of Europe?

Last week, ALDE Party hosted the event “Liberals on the future of Europe – from Conference to EU Reform” to discuss next steps following the recommendations of the Conference on the Future of Europe. During the event, liberal leaders spoke in favour of reforming EU institutions and discussed possible treaty change, EU enlargement and citizen participation in politics.

Josep Maria Cabanes to head Liberals D’Andorra for next country elections

On 29 May, ALDE Party member Liberals d’Andorra held an extraordinary congress to elect the head of list for the next parliamentary elections in Andorra. Josep Maria Cabanes was elected and, in his speech, highlighted his willingness to unite the party and make it grow so that it can win the next general election.

Renew Europe: EU leaders must show unity and purpose

Ahead of this week’s meeting of the European Council, Renew Europe repeated its call for an embargo on Russian energy imports, in line with a resolution recently adopted by the European Parliament. The Group condemns the Hungarian Government's efforts to water down these efforts and calls for steps to prevent a global food security crisis and move forward on common defence.
